Neuromeasurement Designed Specifically for Market Research
The EmBand™ and EmBand 24™ are the most advanced neuromeasurement devices in the world, and the only ones specifically designed for market research. They record more types of measures than any other individual physiological measurement device, capturing not only brainwaves, but also respiration, blinking, head movement, temperature and changes in heart rate.

EmBand neuromeasurement devices were developed as a result of breakthroughs in amplifier and electronics design and intensive testing against commercially available EEG systems to validate the EmBand EEG sensors. Through continued years of design refinement, EmSense has tailored the EmBand and EmBand 24 specifically for market research. These design iterations have directed the focus on recording the specific signals needed to determine emotional and cognitive activity, overcoming the limitations of complex, invasive commercial medical equipment which require lengthy setup times (15-30 minutes) and is far too costly to be scalable enough to provide the quantitative sample sizes required for market research.

EmBand and EmBand 24
Breakthrough Features of the EmBand™ and EmBand 24™:
  • Rapid set-up (one minute or less)
  • Use “no-gel” electrodes (avoids messy conductive gels and respondent clean-up)
  • Encrypted, wireless data transmission (no dangling wires)
  • Slip on easily (no uncomfortable head cap)
  • Easily removed upon test completion
  • Enable natural, comfortable testing (no attachments like chest or finger electrodes)
  • Fully mobile; allow testing in virtually any consumer research setting (not restricted to a “lab”)
Using its Made for Purpose™ design, EmSense has employed several new proprietary technologies in the release of the 24 EEG sensor EmBand 24, including Sensor Fusion Processors™, Contact Clusters™ and Through the Hair EEG™. The EmBand 24 affords clients increased measurement in the key decision center area of the frontal lobes, as well as added measurements, such as visual attention, from sensing additional areas of the brain. The EmBand 24 will primarily be utilized for in-context studies such as in-store shopper research and product innovation, while the original EmBand will continue to be used for advertising, concepts, media content, package testing, online marketing and web-site usability.

This development process has culminated in an unobtrusive design that provides the most natural environment for neurometric data collection, ultimately ensuring unbiased data from respondents. The EmBand and EmBand 24 were designed to provide the scalability needed to achieve quantitative sample sizes as required by market research.

EmSense has completed substantial scientific and market validation on its technology through its Science Advisory Board, network of premier market research partners and Fortune 500 clients.

Analytics for Decision Making
By combining this technology with our advanced analytics system, EmSense delivers insights with the highest resolution and return on investment. Both evaluative and diagnostic measures are provided, driven by bio-sensory metrics as well as more traditional quantitative and qualitative self-reported data. EmSense’s quantitative sample of 100+ respondents allows reporting, on both the target sample as well as key subgroups, benchmarked against the overall database as well as category norms. EmSense analytics provide a complete picture of an audience’s response, powering actionable insights for decision makers.

The Largest Neuromarketing
Database in the World
To date, EmSense has tested over 50,000 people using its neuromeasurement devices and created an unsurpassed bio-sensory database of responses to advertising, packaging and content. For TV advertising, EmSense has over 225,000 impressions across more than 1,500 ads. Additionally, EmSense has created databases of Effie and Cannes winning ads to model the difference between average and great advertising. For interactive content and live testing, EmSense has more than 6,500 hours of recorded responses. These data allow EmSense to not only measure, but benchmark the actual performance of every element of a client’s communications platform.
